New Colors for Your Next Home Project

Mar 03, 2022

Every year, paint companies, interior designers, and other professionals choose a “color of the year.” These hues usually represent the feelings of the moment — or the changes they hope the new year will bring.

This year is no different, and a whole slew of pros have already named their colors of the year, ranging from cool and calm greens to bright purples and rich blues. Even better? These new hues could help increase your home’s value or offer a fresh look to help you sell the property.

Need help choosing a crisp color for your redecorating efforts? Here are some of the top ones to choose from:

Looking for a fun and playful feel (or pop-of-color accent)? Pantone’s Very Peri fits the bill if you want something whimsical. It’d be perfect for adorning a playroom or nursery — or as an accent color in any room.

Want a calm and soothing space? There are lots of green hues great for this feel. Laurel Leaf from Better Homes and Gardens and Benjamin Moore’s October Mist would both be excellent options for a home office, study or guest room. They’d also make for a nice shade on cabinets.

Interested in making a big, bold statement? To add a little drama, try Valspar’s Mountain River — it’s a deep, rich blue that would be particularly nice in the main bedroom. It could work especially well playing off of gray or slate tones.

Prefer a classic, elegant look? If you’re redoing the dining room or want something that feels more formal, Dunn-Edwards’ Art and Craft is a beautiful, vintage-inspired brown that’d make a lovely choice. It could pair well with brass and other metal accents, too.
